So I'm sitting here in the doll room, surrounded by mess and I've come to the realization that I have way too much stuff!!!

I have got to have a clear out - dolls, clothes, little toys, nic nacs, it's gotta go!!!

I had a look on facebook to see if there was a bjd marketplace and there isn't one!! So it made me think maybe I should start one. What do you think? Would you use it? I'm hoping to get a bit of feedback on this before I do anything.

A new year, a new photo challenge!

Ok so I'm throwing down the gauntlet (I've always wanted to say that lol). It's a fresh new year and if the rapture doesn't get us it should be a great year for photos!

What I thought would be good and doable would be a monthly themed photo challenge. At the start of each month we set a theme for that months photo (if it's just me doing it I'll be the one to set the theme, however if there's more than just me, which I hope,we can take it in turns) and then we post the photo before the end of the month.

So only 12 photos, that gives a little bit more time for the time poor among us ;o) Photos can be of any dolls or toys of your choosing.

To get the ball rolling I will choose January's theme, which will be Fairytales.

If you would like to join in please leave a comment :o)

Also as a little side quest I am going to be doing a little Instragram weekly challenge. For those who have iPhones and like to use Instagram please join in, those with other phones that have some sort of photo app please join in too. Taking photos with these apps is so easy and fun, limited to just your imagination! I am going to call my Instagram challenge Instagram Oddities, and I'll be taking pics of all sorts of things around my home, mainly dolls, toys and well...oddities :o)

One of my first true loves, Babushka, Matroyshka, Nesting dolls, Russian dolls - call them what you will. I've loved them since I was a child and would watch them on Sesame Street animations where they would pop in and out of each other and dance around.

This one is one of my favorite artist ones I have, her face is so delicate and beautiful.

Look what Santa left for me under the tree this Christmas!

My very first Charlie Bears bear, Phoenix! Isn't she just gorgeous!!! I am besotted with her and I hope to be able to add a few more Charlie Bears to my new furry family :o)

I've missed having bears, with concentrating so much on dolls I've kinda neglected my furry family. I have a few precious bears and bunnies around the house. I've really fallen in love with Charlie Bears. I saw them in a gift shop while I was out Christmas shopping and fell instantly in love. Their faces and eyes are so expressive. Phoenix reminds me very much of my dog Scruffy. Charlie Bears is an English company that has artists from around the world that design their bears and they are all handmade. Some are limited and very expensive, others like Phoenix are more moderately priced, but still not cheap. I really like the designs of Korean artist Isabelle Lee and find that all the bears I add to my wishlist are designed by her :o)

Little Veruca arrived today! She is adorably grumpy and pouty. I now have a doll with freckles!! Yay! LOL

I really need to get her some smaller eyes, fitting eyes into her is a bit tricky due to the shape of her eye wells and it's a bit on the shallow side inside her head but we'll get it sorted.

Took some quick snaps tonight, hopefully better ones later in the week :o)

I'm playing catch from a few back with some of the photo challenge pics. I had posted over at lj but forget to post here too. So expect a run of posts today :o)First one here we go.... A big thanks to aussiedolls this week for letting me adopt her Peaks Woods body. My Mintie head that has been sitting in a box can finally come out and play! Chantilly, as I have called her has such a doll like quality about her. Now that I've just written that I realize how ridiculous that sounds because she is a doll for goodness sake! But some dolls look more life like than others and this one looks decidedly doll/toy like lol and maybe that is the reason I like her so much :o) So we played dress up in a frilly, dollyish outfit and found a little friend for her to play with...

Doll news update. My Secretdoll person should be shipping this Friday *yay* I blame kittytoes and aussiedolls for leading on the trail to Doll Chateau's new baby dolls lol. I ordered a blank Vivian from Denver Doll a few days ago. I also have 5 dolls on order like someone else who shall remain nameless ;D LOL

Argh I haven't posted in quite a while. I'm way behind in the photo challenge and it doesn't look like I'll finish it this year, or maybe I will I haven't really given it much thought lately. I've been uninspired for the past couple of months with dolls. I do tend to go in phases so maybe that's just what it is (I hope). I sort of feel like I've come to the end of the line with my doll hobby, nothing knew has really come out that has really excited me and really how many dolls, clothes, wigs and shoes do you really need. I've got so many now I can't even remember who I've got and who I haven't. For a while there Re-Ment reignited my love of photography and introduced me to a whole new world of tiny dolls but now I'm bored with that too. It's an awful feeling, feeling unmotivated and uninspired it feels so lifeless and stagnant. When I look back on this year of dolls it's almost bittersweet, so wonderful being published in Dolly Dolly magazine and my photography skills have definitely improved from when I first started but in contrast now I've fallen flat on my face and can't seem to get up. It's not that I don't love dolls anymore, or that I've stopped buying them. Just in the last month I've received four new full dolls and one head. But I haven't done anything with them at all, one still has no hands and feet on as she came out of the box, they are just sitting there waiting. I did give the card thing a go and I still like it just can't be bothered doing it really. Still have some card/paper projects I'd like to do just don't know where to start. I almost feel like someone needs to give me a big hard slap and wake me up, it's odd. I think I am going to try my hardest and catch up on the photo challenge. I've come so far to just let it fall by the way side now, it would be such a shame. And I love a challenge and theres nothing like a deadline to give you that little push to get moving ;D

I feel like the white rabbit in wonderland this week, running late and trying to catch up! Must be because I've had the girls off sick for most of the week. It's been a bad couple of weeks health wise for everyone in our family :o( Thankfully we are over the worst of it now and are on the mend.

So no time for pictures this week for the photo challenge, or was it last week? I am all mixed up and need to work out what week we are on. Sick kids has thrown my whole routine out the window!

Had some wonderful mail this week!! At the end of June I was contacted by a lovely person from the Japanese doll magazine Dolly*Dolly, they were going to be doing an article on animal bjd and wanted to use some of my Pipos photos. I was over the moon to say the least!! I didn't want to get my hopes up too much just incase they didn't use the pics but then I got an email a couple of weeks ago saying my complimentary magazine was on it's way, which could only mean one thing, they did use my pics!!

I've never seen a Dolly*Dolly mag before, it's really cool, loads of dolls in it. Just wish I could read Japanese! lol. Can anyone recommend any good English doll magazines? I used to love Hautedoll and then that folded and ended up as a section in Doll Reader. I like doll magazines, I remember when I used to scour the newsagents for the Barbie Bazaar mag many years ago. I had never even heard of bjds back then, so barbies were it for me and I never told anyone about my doll hobby let alone blog about it lol. Were talking late 90's here I guess, maybe bjds hadn't been invented back then or only just starting to be developed at Volks??? It's weird now I feel like I've come out of the closet about my dolls, like putting doll stuff on Facebook, I would never have done that a few years ago. Now I'm like, love me - love my dolls lol. It's part of who I am :o)

OMG I haven't been this excited about a Barbie in a long time! All I can say is Tokidoki FTW!

Isn't she gorgeous! The attention to detail is amazing, look at the leopard print leggings, the leopard print is actually little Tokidoki style faces! Love absolutely everything about this doll. She is due in October. I'm even thinking of buying two, one to take out and play with and one to keep in the box, coz you know if the doll looks this good the box will be a work of at art too XD

Breathe

We are on school holidays in my tiny corner of the world and it is pure heaven! No rushing around, less stress, no routine etc. We have already shifted about two hours forward in our usual routine, getting up later, having dinner later, going to bed later and it's wonderful :D This is a very much needed break for me, towards the end of last term I was not in a good place and felt like everything was caving in on me. I feel like I am starting to breathe again now which is great. Had my birthday on Monday and was thoroughly spoilt by the family which was lovely. I'm now the proud owner of a shiny new iPad 2 and it's awesome! I think I need to have it permanently grafted to my hand lol. Today is looking pretty sunny (still coolish) so it might be a good gardening day. I should take some pics of my bulbs that have started to flower already and why do my roses start to thrive as soon as the cold weather starts, the time when I am meant to be pruning them!! I had a delightful box of goodness arrive from Japan yesterday. I bought a Re-ment Puchi House from a girl on Flickr and I got it for a great price ( not ridiculous eBay price). So today I hope to put it together and play :D The one thing I love about it is the window sill, I know I must be flipping mad lol. 28/52 ~ Lalaloospy Over Easy Anyone?

I've been having a bit of a sort out lately....

Rement comes in these cute little cardboard boxes, but they take up too much room and you can't see what's inside. So I'm putting it all into these plastic storage containers. At the moment I'm organizing it into their original sets, I'm not sure if this is the way to go or maybe I should organize by what type of thing it is, ie food, appliances, cups, bowls etc. Anal I know, oh well for now it can stay like it is.

Doesn't tiny food just make you go squeeeeee! XD

I bought a dress and a pair of shoes ready for my little Enyo when she arrives later in the year. I wish it was now!! I'm so impatient lol. Haven't found the right wig yet. I'm really in love with little dolls lately.

I'm pretty sure I'm safe from iMda's latest release, Babette. If I didn't already have Modigli I would be all over her for sure. So that is a relief lol. I ordered a dress for Modigli from Neo Angelregion at the beginning of May and I'm still waiting!! I think they must be flat out at the moment with orders. I'm not entirely sure how the whole Soom / Neo Angelregion set up works whether they are one and the same or if they have different divisions within the one building or what. But I'm guessing that they are like most companies that have a back log of orders and release new dolls without finishing off past orders etc. Annoying, but you get used to it in this hobby I guess.

Sunday Morning Ramble

Good morning :o)

For some strange reason I've woken up with half a black eye this morning. Just my eyelid is deep purple, I remember rubbing my eyes early this morning when I first woke up but thought nothing of it.

Not sure what I feel like doing today and it's nice to have a choice of what to do seeing as it's Sunday and not a busy day during the week. Maybe a bit of gardening if the rain holds off. My bulbs from last year have been springing up and I have little jonquils in flower already, they are so pretty. I love winter! The best time to plant things over here :o)

I keep looking at tiny dolls lately. I've got my eyes on a Lati yellow Bayer and a Secretdoll person 21. They are basics so there is no rush, but you know me, I want them now lol. IMda are releasing a new doll called Babette ( love that name so much!! ) this month, she looks very much like Modigli (same size too), can't wait to see more pics of her. Oh and she has freckles, I'm dying to have a doll with freckles!!

Went absolutely crazy last week and bought a load of rement. I call it my premenstrual shopping spree, I always spend more money when I'm pms-ing lol. Made the mistake of buying rement off YJ and got nailed with all of Rinkyas fees, what was I thinking!!! Items which I won for like $8 got a $15 fee plonked on top!! Live and learn I guess, I did get my rement fridge though so that is good even though it cost me a small fortune.

Wow it's July! Amazing how fast this year has gone. It's my birthday this month, the last year of my thirties!! Holy crap that sounds so old, I remember when I turned thirty!! So what are your plans for July?

I've been watching so many shows about cooking and primarily baking lately I thought I would use that as an idea for my photo this week, with Re-Ment of course ;o)

The twins are well known for their delicious cupcakes, but Yin wishes that Yang would be more careful not to get eggshell in the mix...

I've spent most of the day trawling ebay looking for more Re-Ment. I'm desperate for a fridge, one of the pink or white ones. If you see one please let me know! I picked up a few extra food sets that I was missing, and a little cabinet for the kitchen.

I'm sick! Just a cold but I feel rotten and have felt pretty rotten all week but have had so much going on I've had to just ignore it and keep going. Today I'm giving in to it, I'm taking it easy and feeling sorry for myself.

I'm in a bit of a bind. I have a chance to buy a doll that I've wanted for a long time but it doesn't come with it's default clothes and for this particular doll it's default outfit is really important to me. This is the first time I've seen this doll for sale secondhand so he is pretty rare. Should I just buy him and just redress him with other clothes or wait and see if another one turns up? What would you do?

I bought two Lalaloopsy's that I had been looking for last week - Tippy Tumbelina and Mittens Fluff & Stuff. They are so cute, I'll try and take some pics of them next week. I'd love to get the new ones Misty Mysterious and Marina Anchors too but I think they will eBay US jobs because they aren't released here yet. I wonder if there is a community for them on Live Journal? Maybe I should start one??? I know there is a Monster High community on there, but I'm not really in to Monster High as I am Lalas. Which is really weird because I have always loved vampires and ghouls and the idea of that combined with a fashion doll is just so Perfect but they just don't do it for me. I love how Lalas are just so cute and colorful. Plus my girls love them too which maybe does add to the cuteness factor for me :o)

* Had a huge clean up of the doll room yesterday. I didn't particularly want to do it but it had to be done. With doing the photo a week challenge I end up with bits and pieces all over the place and the last few weeks have kinda blurred into one huge mess. I am not a naturally tidy person, oh how I wish I was. Especially when I am creating, whether it's cooking, crafting or taking photos of dolls I am incredibly messy :( I wish I was one of those neat, organized people! Abyway doll room is tidy and slightly reorganized (still have a bit to do). I will hopefully get my virtual tour video done this week, provided I don't mess it up again before then lol.

* I feel stressed this morning. Is it really too much to ask that a 9 year old can get themselves ready in the morning for school without messing around? I mean seriously. Every single fucking morning is the same!! It's driving me mad. Am I expecting too much? Really, am I? All she has to do is get dressed, brush teeth, put her hair up ( all of which she is quite capable). I don't know how many times I have to say unpack your bag when you get home, put your hat in your bag for tomorrow and yet we still end up running around looking for fucking school hats nearly every morning. Then the night before last I found a note from school on the floor about stuff she needs to take in for school by next Monday (today) arghhhhhh!! We quickly got it sorted last night all ready for today. Anyway she has left for school and the stuff she needed to take is still sitting on the end of her bed *shakes head*. Im at the end if my tether, really I am :o(

* On a happier note I am totally loving Pinterest!! It's a great idea, finally I can do something with all those gorgeous pics I find here and there. I love the fact that it saves the original URL from where you find the pics because in the past when I have saved pics of dolls and then I forget what type of doll they are and where they are from etc, Pinterest just solves that problem beautifully. Anyone want an invite let me know :o)

Once again killing two birds with one stone. Here are Suri (Volks Sch C) and Sadie (Hyper Maniac Kakiva) dressed and ready to attend Bonmwe's party for the Nosegay sisters. Of course this is a virtual party, but still fun to play pretend.

Bonmwe has three dolls (Volks Lieselotte, Charlotte and Ran) who are based on real life sisters from a Victorian family called the Nosegays.

In a Small Wooden Box....

I don't think I've shared this little one before and I can't remember if she came first or the wooden box but it just so happened that she was the perfect size to fit in there and the box is done in an Alice theme and she is an Alice doll. Ha!

The doll is made by a lovely lady called Catherine over at Caya's Cottage (flickr, etsy, blogger), she makes darling little bears too :D The box was made by Danieru (flickr, Cookie Dolls on etsy). The front is all wood burnt, it's so pretty and the perfect little room inside for my little cloth Alice.

* I've always been intrigued by Dollstown dolls, I even had one briefly, a Lucille. Ive fallen in love with them again recently. I really need some DT girls in my doll family. I'm thinking Seola, Lucille and Elysia for starters but there are others too that I love but I'll have to get that money tree growing in the back yard first. They are doing a preorder in June at DT, I'm really hoping my volks Charlotte will sell before then and I can get one DT girl. Anyone want a volks Charlotte by any chance? I'm happy to split her if need be, so if you want a Charlotte head or are in need of a sd10 body let me know :)

* Just found out that the second preorder for little Enyo will begin next week! I really hope to be able to get one. Too many lovely dolls around lately!! Seriously there are so many new dolls and new companies it's mind boggling!

* I keep hoping I'll find another hobby whether it's a different doll or some type of collectible that will draw me in the way bjds do. But so far nothing, the only reason for wanting something different is the expense. Bjd's are just so expensive.

* Poor old Boo is not well again. We were at the vets again last Monday and looks like we will be there again tomorrow for blood tests as she is vomiting again so the antibiotic injection she was given last week is obviously not working.

* I did have more to say but it seems to have left me. Some people seem to be having a negative effect on me lately and it's not good and it's really frustrating, annoying and sad and I don't know what to do about it :o( and it's not just one person it's a few, maybe it's me!? I'm not in a good place today :o( *cries*

Lazy Sunday

Ah today is Sunday and it feels very lazy and slow. After tidying up a bit and catching up on some washing I hope to be able to get some more copic coloring done.

I really need to do a bit of gardening out the front too.

I started a layaway with Soom the other day for an iMda Agatha and a little Nappy Choo Popo. It's a 90 day layaway so it gives me plenty of time to pay them off. Agatha will be my Modigli's big sister. Just need to think of a name for her (love that bit).

I'm really enjoying Blogger, I wonder is there anyway to make your posts private so only your followers can read your entries?? Do you know? There are things I want to be able to say without the whole world reading them. Sometimes I feel gagged on livejournal and I can't really say what I want. I did think of starting a new private blog but interaction with people is really important to me and it would get way too depressing if I was totally alone lol. I wonder how many of you even read this blog anyway.

Week 20 already!! Can you believe it, we're screaming towards the middle of the year like there is no tomorrow *gulp*

Still in Modigli heaven :o) Popped in some silly pink eyes and played around with wigs. This wig is sold by Neo Angel Region as one of the 7/8" wigs that fit's Modigli's large melon head and it is so small it hardly fits at all. I managed to keep it on with one of those silicone head caps and the black ribbon. I do love it though, the colour suits her perfectly. I might have to order the longer one as well, it's so soft and natural looking.

So on with the pics, I got playing with Picnic on Flickr :o) This was the cross process effect, I think it has quite an eerie look, either that or the pink eyes are weirding me out O_o LOL

* I feel like I haven't posted about much lately, i feel like I haven't much to post about to be honest besides the photo a week thing. Time to get back to rambling posts about dolls and hobby stuff. Ever since my computer died and then the laptop had that bloody exe virus I feel like it's set me back. I had all these great plans and it caught me off guard. Poo!

* I'm at swimming lessons at the mo with the kids. It's amazing how many of the parents sit playing with their phones lol. What ever did we do without smart phones??? I'm totally addicted to Tiny Wings on the iPhone, you must try it! It's super cute, fun, soothing and extremely addictive!!

* Window shopping on Etsy is a dangerous thing lol. I found these funny tarot cards on another website that I'm tempted to get.

Love, love, love this little pill box especially the catch phrase "better living through chemistry". Gawd i could do with some of that lately, something to wake me up in the morning and knock me out at night! It reminded me of caerbannog 's "I wanna be sedated" pill box that I thought was uber cool and hysterically funny ( and still do :D).

Also love this paper doll book, I bet it's amazing inside. I used to love paper dolls as a kid.

* On a silly note have a look at this cat. It cracks me up no end. There are a lot of weird Victorian cat pictures on the net, it must have been quite fashionable to dress up your pets and get their portraits done ( if you had the money of course). Maybe that's why Beatrix Potter was so successful or maybe she started the trend?? Who knows but it's cute. I want to get a bonnet for my Pipos kitties now :D

Catching up from last weeks photo challenge, so I'll be posting two photos this week.

My little Tilly Plum came back from the wonderful sdink last week. She has had a total makeover and I couldn't be happier with her. Her lips look even more pouty and luscious now <3

Isn't she so adorable! I'm having so much fun with this little one. I think not only is it because she is so lovely but also because there is only one of her, she get's all the attention lavished on her. Maybe this is a good lesson for me, having more is not always a good thing. It is nice to just focus on one thing and have fun in the process.

I've ordered her some more clothes and wigs from Soom but they are really, really slow. I also had a little splurge on the weekend and ordered that Sweet Passion dress from Dollheart and some little yo-sd sized spat boots for my spoilt Tilly.

The dresser took a little longer to finish than planned but now it is completely done. I'm really happy with how it turned out. I haven't taken to it with sand paper yet to give it that shabby look, still not sure if I'm going to or not.

First of all, Happy Easter everyone! Hope the Easter bunny has been generous :D

I am really enjoying this long weekend. It's been quiet and relaxing. The kids and I met up with some other school mums and kids for a casual birthday party/movie outing and we saw Hop, it was really cute and of course perfect timing for Easter. My kids have been extra excited about Easter this year and they truly believe the Easter bunny lives across the road from us in the bush, it's so sweet.

My Pipos Charlotte and Hypermaniac Kakiva are on route as I type. Having second thoughts about Charlotte and thinking I might let her go when she arrives but we'll see. The doll room sort out continues. I feel like I have a room that is about 40% too small for the amount of stuff I have. I really need to think before I buy any more bitty little things I just don't have room for them. But I am a sucker for little trinkety things, I must have been a magpie in a former life.

Today I am going to paint the top part of the dresser and then it will be all finished. The base part is already in and filled with sewing gear. My father in law said I did a good job and he really liked it which was a great compliment from him because he really likes wood to look like wood and not covered with paint. I wonder what my mum would think? This dresser was her pride and joy.

I've decided if I ever get a Kaye Wiggs doll I want it to be a fair skin Miki (above). Jpop are releasing a fair skin elf Miki sometime this year. I'm not overly fussed about the elf ears but it a lot cheaper to preorder an elf Miki through Jpop than to buy a human Miki secondhand from eBay, like about $500 cheaper. I've noticed that Lati and Kaye Wiggs dolls really seem to go up in value on the secondary market. Not that I buy dolls just to make a profit but it's good to be able to see which ones increase in value. I'm really quite taken with Kaye's dolls. Their faces are beautiful especially their lips, full and pouty, but in a childlike way. I look at them and see my daughters and I think this is what makes me want them more. I know I will end up studying them intensely and figuring out which sculpt represents which daughter the best.

I've been doing a lot of cyber window shopping and I'm in love with two adorable outfits. One for Modigli from Neo Angelregion and one for any of my big SD girls from DollHeart. Also wigs wigs wigs!! I love the Leeloo wigs from Jpop , designed by Marbled Halls. I want one in every colour!! Especially the Ginger, I'm pining to do a redhead with big brown eyes. I love that hair/eye colour combination.

And on that note I am off to paint and eat more chocolate!

This is the Lady Vampterfly by Sakuli I was telling you about kittytoes :) I fell in love with this Blythe on eBay. I was outbid in the last seconds and I was heart broken. Then a couple of days later Sakuli sent me a second chance offer through eBay, the high bidder didn't pay so she was mine if I wanted her!

Procrastination 101

I'm procrastinating.....

I should be moving furniture in the doll room but it's much easier to sit on the couch and type this lol. I've done the first coat of paint on my shabby chic dresser. Hope to have the final coat done this afternoon. Then I should be able to set it up in the doll room tomorrow, hence all the moving of furniture.

The cupboards I am moving out of the doll room are twice the size of the dresser so I really have to cull a lot of stuff. So far the kids have been given a massive box full of craft stuff that I haven't used for the past ten years ( why oh why do I hoard so much stuff!) and I've reduced my fabric stash to half. Still have many boxes of embroidery threads that belonged to my mum that I just can't bare to part with. I might just get a big storage box and put a load of stuff in one of the linen cupboards lol. See, thats the hoarder in me talking.

Anyway we are half way there :) I am hoping to be able to share pics of it all by the weekend.

iMda Modigli arrived this week. She is my grumpy, tantrum throwing three year old. Oh wait, don't I already have a real life one of those...oh yeah ;o)

I ummed and arghed over iMda's Modigli for too long and then she sold out :o( I was heartbroken, she was after all limited to just 50 worldwide. I put up a WTB thread on DoA a little while agao and then out of the blue last week someone pm'd me to say they had a Modigli they wanted to sell. I nearly fell off my chair! Less than a week later she is home here with me :D In a way I feel like she is my first sort of art doll. She is quite unusual, her head is msd size and her body more yo-sd size. Naked she looks a bit like a little alien, but it works and I adore her round hips and stumpy legs XD

* Boo is doing much better. Took another urine sample to the vet yesterday and they said the antibiotics are working and her condition has improved but she still needs more antibiotics. The vet suggested a long acting antibiotic injection. My first thought was why the heck couldn't you have used that the first time around. I really like this vet practice but I can't help but feel they have gone the long way around to solving the problem and I wonder if it's just a way of making extra money. So off to the vet this morning and Boo had her injection and hopefully this will be the end of it. $1000 later and I am looking into pet insurance.

* I did order Pipos O.Charlotte. You knew I would ;o)

* We had our 13th wedding anniversary yesterday. Hubby bought me a Navman for the car because we always argue when I have to read the map book. I thought that was hilarious lol.

* The Super Moon the other night was awesome! I should have taken photos. I heard something on the news about how it is believed there is a link to that moon and natural disaters. Is it true? They do say the end of the world will take place next year, 2012, it better not happen before my 40th birthday because I wanna have a party damn it lol.

* I have a wish list a mile long. It goes a little something like this...

Cat Tales

We've been having trouble with one of our cats, Boo (see icon) vomiting. It started about six weeks ago. It seemed to coincide with a night that Boo spent outside (most unusual for her) and was chased and terrified by next doors dog. I found her hiding in a drain the next afternoon after worrying myself to tears that she had been mauled by the dog or chased away and was lost. So I was thinking maybe the vomiting was from stress.

It went on for about a week and I decided to take her to the vet. The vet thought maybe it was hairballs, gave me Catlax and sent us on our way. We've had Boo since she was four weeks old (she is now seven years old) and I've never seen her chuck up a hair ball so I was a bit worried it was more than just that.

A couple more weeks went past it looked like the vomiting was easing up and then it started again. Back to the vet we go this time full x-rays, blood works. All the results came back fine, so that was a relief but still a concern because we still don't know what is wrong.

Took a urine sample to the vet yesterday (and that was a job and a half getting that from Boo let me tell you) and it turns out she has a very nasty urinary tract infection. Nearly $900 worth of vet bills to tell us she has a uti lol.

So now she is on antibiotics, I am having such a hard time getting them into her. Cats are so smart they definitely know when you have been tinkering with their food. Not like dogs that just gulp down a piece of steak oblivious to the fact there is a tablet in the middle of it. Does anyone have any secret tips for getting cats to take tablets? I'd love to know!!

Tempting Charlotte

I am trying to resist the pull of the new Charlotte that Pipos is going to release very soon. The face ups are exquisite, so feminine and beautiful. Trouble is I've never been into Charlotte before, I mean is she a cat, or a demon? I'm not entirely sure?? Best I can work out she is a human/cat because she has a cattish face and a human body, I guess a bit like Elfdoll's Catsy.

The above pic is of their Gift Charlotte. Two lucky people who order a Charlotte (or Derek he is the other sculpt being released) and pay straight away have the chance to win this divine creature!! I think she is delicious, I love everything about her. What are the odds I wonder, do I have a chance? Should I or shouldn't I???

Then just to add to the temptation they go and release a limited outfit too!! Arghhhhhhhhh!!!! They are trying to kill me I swear!!!

Welcome to Arty Farty Friday!!!! Excuse the name this is what you get when you brainstorm with an 8 year old.

Anyway hopefully every Friday or there abouts I will share some sort of craft project I have been doing. This is my way of trying to actually get something done rather than just dreaming about it.

So this week I have been making a card, nothing flash, don't get too excited. I saw this on Kiki(verde)'s blog and thought how cute is that and how quick and easy is that, even better! I needed a card for my dear hubby for Valentines day and hopefully he will like this one. We don't do a lot for Valentines day anymore being the old married couple that we are lol and if we do do anything like go out to dinner it usually involves three childerbeasts, yeah romantic ;o) So at least this way he gets something that has had a bit of time and love put into it which is sometimes lacking in our day to day busy lives.

As you can see, very simple. Didn't go out and buy anything new, just used what was in the craft box. Pattern is courtesy of Kiki(verde) which you can download :o)

I love any sort of applique and in this case cut and paste! I think I'm still five years old :p

And the finished product, which had a quick swipe of distressed ink around the edges of the owl to give it that old look.

Miniature Monday

Yay Miniature Monday is officially a go!

Okay to get started this is the dollhouse I'm going to be working on. My childhood dollhouse made in the late 1970's by my uncle when we lived back in the UK.

As you can see it's had some rough treatment thanks to the kids (they even drew on it for Pete's sake!). I gave it a paint job about 7 years ago when I let my eldest daughter play with it. I basically used whatever left over house paint we had in the shed so it's pretty awful. I plan to sand it all back a bit and give it a complete over haul.

First thing I want to try and find is some pretty dollhouse wallpaper in like a pale pink and white stripe, and some sort of flooring, maybe a white washed type floor board. Still undecided about the exterior colours, the walls will definitely be an off white but not sure on the roof and door colour whether to go a soft grey or soft sagey green. Or maybe even do the roof in little shingles.

Rooms wise, I think I will stick with the original room design which was bedroom and bathroom up top and lounge and kitchen down the bottom.

Hopefully by next Monday we might have a bit of progress :o)

On an unrelated note, my heart goes out to all the families in Roleystone and Kelmscott who lost their homes due to a bush fire in the past 24 hours. It is just so sad :o( I still can't believe it, it has all happened so fast.

Doll Ramble

I'm feeling at a low ebb in the doll hobby at the moment. Not really sure why. I'm not excited about anything, haven't found new dolls or ideas to squee over. I'm in a sad state :o( Today I am going to give the doll room an over haul and see if that get's the creative juices flowing.

I did get a jolt of excitement the other day when I finally decided on a theme for my childhood dollhouse. I was looking through some very clever miniature artisan blogs on blogger and one in particular that stood out was one for a shabby chic style bakery. I thought that is it! Shabby chic style dollhouse! My childhood dollhouse isn't a set style, so not Victorian like most dollhouse furniture, it's not really a tiny cottage either but I think it will lend itself well to a pretty shabby chic interior.

So my plan today is to make some space on the desk to fit the dollhouse on and to get started cleaning it up, fix the stairs and start planning wallpaper and flooring. I have already spied lot's of miniature pretty things on etsy. I think I'll have a look around some of the thrift type stores here to see if I can find some dollhouse furniture that can be shabby-fied into something sweet and feminine. The thing I love about this is that I am not set in stone with a particular style, so if some furniture is a bit Victorian looking and some bit's are a bit more modern it doesn't matter, as long as it's all white it will work.

My Volks Charlotte is winging her way to me now as I type. I am really looking forward to her coming. I can't wait to see her pretty face and have a solid torso SD10 again! I am thinking of calling her Babette, I have a thing for french names at the moment lol.

I was very tempted by a Volks SD16 Kira on DoA the other week, luckily for my bank account I think she has been taken down from sale now or sold or something. I did pm the seller to ask to see more pics but never heard back, so I am taking this as a sign that I really do not need to buy her lol. Yesterday I went back to Soom to look at the IMda Modigli that I fell for a few weeks ago and low and behold she is sold out! Then, last night I saw a friend on flickr had some nice Leeke mohair wigs and a Soda Cosette dress (that I have always loved) for sale, I shot her a pm and she pm'd back and said that they had all just sold five minutes earlier. It's like the universe is trying to tell me something, don't spend ya money!!! Weird! It's probably a good thing really.

I'm thinking of making regular posts to keep me motivated in what ever craft thing I might be doing. Like "Miniature Monday" will be for any dollhouse/miniature project that I'm doing, another day for atc's or card/paper craft (still thinking of a witty name fort that one, any suggestions?), another day for dolls/toys - which at the moment will be the 52 week photo challenge thanks to aussiedolls :o) (I am really enjoying this btw). I just thought that I enjoy blogging and I am finding with the photo challenge it gives me a reason to get motivated, I have to take the photo each week and post it and maybe that same sort of challenge would work for other hobbies that I am lacking motivation in. For me, I get all too stuck in the planning and dreaming stage of a project and then I never follow through and actually do anything. I don't know whether it's a time constraint thing or maybe I am just a lazy dreamer lol. Well I thought I would give it a go anyway and see what happens, so stay tuned for more regular rambling ;o)

This morning I was very pleasantly surprised to find a Blossom Flowerpot Lalaloopsy doll in Big W :D I had just been saying on flickr yesterday how much I wanted one but didn't want to have to pay the enormous shipping that goes with buying from overseas. The dolly gods must have been listening for once ;o)

Quick doll update time.

Volks Charlotte is almost paid off thanks to some Lati vamp sales. I sold my Lati Coco vamp in less than twelves hours! Also sold Lati vamp Lea in less than 24 hours! Unbelievable! I'm hanging on to vamp Lami for now, and it's funny she was the one I always really loved from the start even though I bought her as a head only. Still have vamp Lea's stock outfit and wig for sale if anyone is interested :o)

I still haven't sold poor tan Rio. I've had three people all really interested in her, the first one was all ready to put her on layaway and then flaked at the last minute, the second one did the same and the third is still trying to decide. I'm wondering if this is a sign? I still love her, basically I just need the money to pay off my credit card and although this can be done bit by bit over a few weeks I want to get it all paid and out of the way. But then I think if I ever were to do a FCS order for the same doll there is no way I would get all of what I have (extra hands, swarrico body, high heel feet etc) for $650! We'll see I guess, though I won't be surprised if the third buyer flakes too. Or maybe it will be third time lucky *crosses fingers*.

Pipos are going to be releasing their new basics soon and a cute new bunny with teef, I guess to tie in with the Year of the Rabbit! Yay for bunnies! Expect lot's of bunny pics coming your way ;D Did I mention I have a Pipos Dali and Gift edition Ringos coming from Pipos? I can't remember if I did, they were on layaway but are all paid now thanks again to Lati vamp sales :o) I got Dali in grey skin, she looks kinda spooky but I like it.

I am loving aussiedolls photo challenge. It has given me a fresh, new motivation to be creative and get snapping with the camera. I have even had thoughts of making a diorama for my Pipos critters :D I have a ton of craft things I want to do at the moment - finish cuckoo clock, make some more atc's, start on the dollhouses. If I can crawl out from underneath this never ending pile of housework I may actually get time to do it. It doesn't help having kids home all the time on holidays either lol. It will probably be best to leave anything crafty until they have gone back to school. Which leads me to my question for all you busy crafty ladies on my followers list, how do you make time for your hobbies? I really would love to know and any time management tips you have might save me from drowning in my housework! :D

A belated Merry Christmas to all XD

Wow, how fast did Christmas zoom past!!?? I love the build up to Christmas, the shopping, planning the Christmas dinner, catching up with dear friends, end of school concerts etc etc. I always feel a little defalted on the actual day, don't get me wrong Christmas morning is the best morning ever, but it's afterwards when the excitement subsides, it's a bit of a downer lol. But saying that I did have a fabulous Christmas this year. My brother and his soon to be wife stayed with us for a week. I forgot how much I miss my own family, it was so nice to have someone who knows me and what I was like as a child close to me. We got out the really old family photo album and sat around looking at pictures from when we were both babies *sniff sniff*. I got along really well with my future sister in law, we like a lot of the same things (she loved my dolls, so that was a bonus!).

Hubby bought me a lati body for my little lami vampire head, so finally she is complete! Still waiting for my vampire lea btw, we are fast approaching the six month mark of waiting. I also got Dragon Quest IX for ds which is why I haven't been around much lol. OMG it is amazing, I haven't felt this excited about an RPG since Final Fantasy VII. I may never see the light of day again!!! LOL. Anyone on my flist playing Dragon Quest IX?

It's not even the end of this year and already my mind is ticking away with doll/hobby plans for next year.

Number 1 cardinal rule for doll hobby next year is no impulse purchases!!!!! I am so bad for this, I get bored, browse the marketplace and before you know it I am buying a $1000 doll I had no intention of buying! I have to learn that it is ok to fall in love with dolls and to appreciate their beauty, I just don't have to buy the damn doll as well. This will be my mantra, no impulse buys no impulse buys no impulse buys!!!

Make the most of what I already have. I have some really wonderful dolls, I really do. Seems everybody else realises this except me. I have to make the most of them, treat them all like new dolls every time I decide to play. The whole reason I got into bjds was because one doll could have a million different looks, seems mine get stuck with the same old look and that's it. I would also like to get some dolls new face ups (Kurumi, Lin, Lishe) and really make them my own.

Pipos *sigh* I love those little anthos so much! I am going to be patient and hold out for them to do their 2011 release of Cheese Mouse, and maybe buy a Curo and basic Cheshire (white or grey or both ;D) sometime next year as well. Still hoping to find the limited star, shy, joky and moody cheshires on the secondary marketplace.

Two new (not new as in new, but not secondhand) dolls that I would love to buy but probably shouldn't and can't afford anyway are Leekeworld Carey and Soom Asil. I also love Volks Lieselotte but she always seems to sell for such a high price, like $1300 or more and I must have had a reality check or something because I just cannot justify spending that on a doll anymore. I think of how many light fittings, or curtains I could buy with that money instead. My god, does that mean I have "grown up" eeek! scary!

I'd love to buy a Re-ment fridge and maybe a little cupboard next year. I have my kitchen and table set now and I'd really like to make a little room set up in the expedit. I must, if it's the last thing I ever do - build my mothers old Victorian dollhouse next year!!!! Taryn, are you up for some woodwork? LOL. I've been putting it off, and putting it off. It just seems so daunting, like a giant jigsaw puzzle. Maybe it's also because mum isn't here to see it makes me not want to do it, I don't know. I do know that when it is done though, it will be beautiful and would look great in my front sitting room :o)

I'd still like to do a bit more card making and try my hand at digital scrapbooking. Finally get something done with the poor third child's baby photos, that have hardly been printed off from the computer. Also I want to make a gigantic family photo wall all down my passage way. I saw this at a friends place and it looked amazing!

Sewing wise, well I'm not much of a seamstress as we know lol. But I bought a pattern for a cat quilt that I plan to use as a wall hanging, so I am going to make a start on that next year. It may well take me all year to finish it lol.

Argh it feels good to get all those thoughts written down. I feel like I have a plan now, I like boundaries lol.

We are officially on school holidays here in our household!! This is both good and bad, good because I love not having to race around like a headless chook in the mornings and I love being home. Bad because having three children running around the house soon becomes quite a messy affair and I am constantly picking up stuff. But other than that I am happy, I love not having to go out of the house everyday. I'm such a homebody, I like nothing better than knowing I can stay home all day :D

My Christmas shopping is pretty much all done, just a couple of little bits to buy (my brother & his girlfriend), kids are all sorted thank goodness. I haven't wrapped anything yet though, must have a look to see what wrapping I have and may need to buy more.

Food wise, so far the only Christmas food I've bought is little plum puddings. I am going to cook a more traditional lunch this year. Usually it's seafood all the way, which I love, but I think we are all getting a bit tired of it. So this year it will be roast pork, maybe a small turkey or large chicken and roast vegies, that sort of thing. All done in the bbq outside so we don't heat up the house more than necessary seeing as it will probably be about 35 degrees outside lol (if not more). I always remember one of our first Christmases in Australia and my mum had made a huge traditional roast dinner, in our non air conditioned house and she had an elaborate candle centre piece that melted before she even lit it because it was so stinking hot in our house.

My brother and his girlfriend arrive on the 20th, still have to make the media room into a bedroom which will be a challenge as hubby uses it as a study and he lives like a crazy hoarder with piles of paperwork everywhere, grrrrrrrr! Should be an interesting Christmas, have never met my brothers girlfriend and she is quite a bit younger than me (and he is quite a bit older than me, do the maths). Brets dad is coming for Christmas day and his mum for Boxing day. Ah dysfunctional families, don't ya just love them! If I could wish for anything in the world it would be to have a normal family, where my mum and dad are still alive and together, and Bret's parents are still together (and happy of course). To have a Christmas day where the whole family come together and celebrates happily toogether. I think if you are one of these people that actually have that at your Christmas then you are incredibly blessed, and really should take a moment to appreciate it. Of course I am thankful for my own beautiful family, just wish my kids had their maternal grandparents to share it with them more than anything.

Why do people have to say "they are not bonding with a doll", why can't they just say "they don't like them".

I received my Doll Hearts red queen outfit today. It's magnificent. I must dress up one of the dolls and take pics.

Not really feeling it for the dolly dolls (dolls that look like people I mean, anthros have stolen my heart for some strange reason lol) at present. Haven't taken any photos of them for a long time. I bought some re-ment for my Pipos critters, so hoping that will inspire me. I am going to try and set up a little kitchen, this has been a dream for a long time. I found a kitchen sink/oven set on ebay and a table and chairs etc. I spent a small fortune on food sets, I just can't resist little cartons of milk and cereal bowls etc etc etc.

Wondering if my Latidoll vampire Lea will ever ship, I ordered her back in July! I also ordered a body for my Lami head (that is my Christmas present from hubby and the kids :D). Maybe they will be here for next Christmas :o(

I have one doll left to sell and then I'm done! Thank God, it's been a long hard slog! I officially hate selling dolls. It never used to be this hard, people are rude, always bartering the price, it's not good for the stress levels.
